A story tells how a true saints disregards any action, which is originated out of ego.
Roop Goswami lived in Vrindavan. He was scholar of scriptures and had the experience of divine love bliss.. He had one disciple Jeev Goswami. He was too a scholar of scriptures and was seeking divine love bliss under the guidance of Roop Goswami.
Roop Goswamin wrote a beautiful book on devotion named Bhakti Rasamrut Sindhu. Once a scholar from Kashi traveled to Vrindavan and he pointed one mistake in the book. This incited Jeev Goswami and he angrily challenged the scholar for a debate. Both of them sat on banks of river Yamuna and debated the whole day without any food or drink and ultimately the scholar from Kashi conceded the defeat.
Jeev Goswami went to his Master, Roop Goswami and narrated the whoile episode. Roop Goswami smiled first and then said to Jeev Goswami, 'Jeev, you get out of Vrindavan. You don't deserve to stay here. You are being told day in, day out to be humble and instead you were angry on the scholar and tore him to agony! How did you get overpowered by anger? Why were you not angry with the anger itself? You nourished your ego through this act and it got inflated. That is yet another loss!'
Shed ego but remember it does not mean that accepting any sensual offers from others in the name of not making anyone sad. You must humbly reject any that offer which would take you away from God and take you to materialistic happiness. Because the only reason that we are away from God is that we are after sensual indulgence.
